God’s Original Diet
In this seminar we will cover the biblically based principles of why it is necessary to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. We will also show how God’s Original Diet impacts our temples and our relationship with the Lord. Handouts will be given that will consists of information on healthy recipes, simples ways to make significant changes in our eating habits, and a journal for the first 30 days for each participant to track how they are progressing that also has motivational scriptures for each day.
Cardiovascular Disease Prevention
This seminar covers what causes cardio vascular disease, what the symptoms are and practical steps and tips to prevent cardio vascular disease. Emphasis will be on motivation to change our lifestyle habits such has our diet and exercise. Handouts will include diet tips, exercise tips, creative recipes to help change diet habits as well as overall lifestyle choices that can impact our health.
Rheumatoid Arthritis Prevention and Holistic Treatments
This seminar covers the symptoms leading to Arthritis and how to deal with the results of those symptoms holistically. How to use alternative methods, such as special diets that focus on anti-inflammatory components, recommended therapeutic message techniques, suggested oil essences that will reduce pain and inflammation, as well as other holistic methods that will help relieve the acute pain and other symptoms that come with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Hand-outs will include valuable resources for additional information, information on diet and exercise as well as products that will be helpful in pain reduction and how to increase your range of motion.
Diabetes – Prevention, Detection, Survival
This seminar will cover information on what Diabetes is with a focus on Type II Diabetes. We will discuss prevention and how diet, exercise and family medical history impacts your chances of developing diabetes. We will also cover how to detect the onset of Diabetes, what the symptoms are, and the different treatments that are available with an emphasis on holistic and alternative treatments, as well as how to live successfully with Diabetes. Handouts will include some great tips on diet and exercise as well as other sources to get further information on prevention.
Strokes, Causes, Symptoms, Prevention
This seminar focuses on the sobering statistics regarding stroke – which is a leading killer over cancer. The workshop will give you practical information on symptoms, how to determine if a person has actually had a stroke. Most importantly how to prevent strokes, through diet, exercise, stress management and knowing your family medical history. Hand-outs will be provided that cover tips on diet, exercise and some holistic practices that help lower the occurrence of stroke.
Youth and Obesity – Solutions to a National Crisis
This seminar will be full of information on how we can battle juevenille obesity through education, better diets (that children will actually eat), and a regular exercised regime. Participants will leave with handouts ranging from healthy snacks that kids will love to how you and your child can motivate each other to start an exercise regime you can both do together.
How to Reduce Stress Holistically
This seminar will focus on learning about the three stages of stress and how those stages impact our bodies. We will discuss holistic stress reduction techniques, such as using aromatherapy, herbs, movement, and breathing. Handouts will include information regarding aromatherapy, stress reduction exercise tips, and information on basic relaxation techniques.
This seminar will cover the healthy benefits of eating the colors of the Rainbow. We will go over all the fruits and vegetables within the rainbow color scheme and also discuss the nutritive values of each and the best time of the year to purchase these fruits and vegetables. We will go over those fruits, vegetables and herbs that act as antioxidants and have other medicinal qualities. Handouts will include recipes, seasonal menus that will help with purchasing the most affordable vegetables and fruits when they are in season.
Weight Reduction that Works
This seminar will focus on how to loose weight and how to keep the weight off. We will cover the myths about weight loss, and the importance of choosing a diet that has your specific goals in mind. We will explore inches verses pounds, BMI, body types, and other topics surrounding losing weight. Handouts will include a 30 day inspirational and motivational journal that participants can use to journal their progress.
What’s In Your Pantry
This seminar is specifically for those individuals who are ready for a significant change in their diets and the foods they eat. Each participant will bring a list of the kind of foods that are in their pantry. We will discuss what is healthy on their list and what is not as healthy and why. We will take that list and develop a list that will be healthier. Each participant will have recipes to go with their new healthy pantry list and well as other resources they can use to educate themselves on how to continue to add to their now healthy pantry.
The Workshops Below All Require Participation
Praise Dance Fitness
This class teaches combined movements from Ballet, Jazz, Afro-Caribbean to contemporary Christian and gospel music. The class starts with warm-ups, stretches, cardio vascular moves, a combination and a cool down. The class always starts and ends with prayer and scripture. During instruction we will talk about the different forms of praise dance, what certain moves mean, appropriate attire, and what ministering in dance truly means. All students should wear comfortable clothing. Dance shoes or bear feet are fine.
Low Impact Exercise
The class teaches various forms of low impact exercise for those who may not have workout for a while. We will do moves form Yoga, Pilates, use resistance bands, and 5lb weights. We will go through ideas for daily routines and how to alternate workouts so they won’t get boring. We will also go over motivational tips, how to deal with initial soreness, and how to combine your exercise with a healthier diet. We will also talk about PraiseWorks Program Fit in Five – how to do exercise in five minute increments three times a day five days a week, that will have an impact on your body within 30 days. Participants should were comfortable clothing and gym shoe for parts of the class. We will be in bare feet for the Yoga and Pilates section.
